Hong Kong

My dad has been an avid hiker since I was born. I remember how he took out his compass, hiking shoes, maps to plan for his routes. He was a fan of the MacGyver drama, so he was really into the outdoor survival and the swiss knife. I’ve only properly hiked with him once when I was under 10 as far as I could recall. I have no idea why he’s so religious about going on the weekend hikes after his retirement. To me, these hikes were nothing more than just an exercise.

Up until I got an opportunity hiked up to a peak accidentally with my jeans and sneakers briefly after I got introduced to a writer friend’s grandma. She told me about the park half way up the mountain which she used to hike up near her home. With no preparation whatsoever, it was not only achievable, it was so refreshing. I felt like I’ve found a ‘new part’ Hong Kong.

I began weekend hiking by the end of 2015. I have travelled to lots of far away places of Hong Kong.
